FRESH from his stunning win in last Saturday's British Experts Trial, seven times World Champion, Dougie Lampkin, makes his British Champion-ship comeback on the factory Beta with a one-off ride in Sunday's (August 3) MacKenzie Trophy Trial, which is round five of the seven-round 2008 Colin Appleyard British Solo Trials Championship series. This Yeadon-Guiseley club staged event will be staged again at Brimham Rocks, near Pateley Bridge, which proved such an excellent venue when introduced last year.
Scarborough rider Michael Brown, on the Beta, leads the 2008 British Championship, just two points ahead of reigning title holder Graham Jarvis, four-stroke Sherco, and these two are now well ahead in the Championship race with Gas Gas UK rider Shaun Morris, now a dozen marks astern.
But as well as Dougie making a guest appearance, Future Montesa's James Dabill rides only his second British Championship event after finishing second in the year's opening round in Scotland. Between them, Doug and Jim can really open up the points gap between the challengers - depending on the finishing order!
Reigning Expert champ, Scorpa's Joe Baker and 125 Beta-rider, Jack Challoner, renew hostilities in their battle for class supremacy. The Experts series is always hotly contested and any one of half a dozen riders can have their day and upset the form book.
Yeadon-Guiseley return to Brimham Rocks in Nidderdale with many options for some super sections. Clerk of Course, James Noble and his deputy, Andrew Carter, have surveyed the Estate with a view to exploiting its many options.
The venue is accessed via the A61 and the B6165. Do not enter the Brimham Rocks Country Park but follow the Trial direction signs at the entrance to the Country Park.
Practice will take place from from 8.30am to 10.30am, the riders and observers briefing will take place at 10.45am and then the trial will start at 1pm, covering three laps of 12 cracking sections with a total time allowance of five and a half hours. The first lap time allowance will two and a half hours.
Brimham Rocks offers excellent sections which are good to watch but spectators are urged to take care, as the ground is quite rough and also to respect the venue.
