Everts bash grows

This years Everts and Friends, a fun day in aid of childrens charities will take place at the Horensbergdam circuit just north of Genk, on Thursday, July 21 a Belgian National Holiday.
Already confirmed to be in attendance are Jeffrey Herlings, Steve Ramon, Steffi Laier, Ken De Dycker, Max Nagl, Tanel Leok, Rui Goncalves, Joel Roelants, Johan Boonen, Jeremy Van Horebeek, Marc De Reuver, Yentel Martens, Kenny Vandueren, Jake Nicholls,... and Benoit Pauwels, the famous ‘one-armed racer'.
Further GP stars Stefan is hoping to encourage to spend the day with his crew include Clement Desalle, Ken Roczen, Antonio Cairoli, Ben Townley and David Philippaerts.
Amongst the star guests from the recent past are Stefan's erstwhile French adversary Mickael Pichon, legendary compatriot Joel Smets and three-times Dakar winner Cyril Despres.
WMX, with the girls racing the men in special handicap events, pit-stops when the spanners are guaranteed to fly, sometimes out of inexperienced hands, and novelty races are all part of the entertainment together with ‘Golden Heroes' races with legendary stars Brad Lackey, Gert-Jan Van Doorn, Dave Thorpe, Dirk Geukens, Jean-Jacques Bruno, Jo Martens, Marnicq Bervoets, Graham Noyce, Marc Velkeneers, Hans Corvers, Peter Herlings, Toon Karsmakers, Neil Hudson, Gerard Rond, Jan Blancquaert and WRC champion Freddy Loix.
The ‘Future Stars' winner will receive a stone-carved replica of Everts' last air-cooled engine, fully equipped with kickstarter and spark plug. And a host of former champions headed by Joel Robert, with Stefan on his 1991 title-winning 125 Suzuki, will do a parade lap. A new addition to the programme is the ‘Cyclo MX Race' in which a top motocross rider and a cyclo-cross racer will team up.
Stefan has already received confirmation of support from Sven Nys, Niels Albert, Bart Wellens, Sven Vanthourenhout, Tom Meeusen, Erwin Vervecken, Ben Berden and Rob Peeters from the pedal power elite.
The day would of course not be complete without six-year-old Liam Everts showing his skills together with his buddies.
A host of factory team trucks will be on site, there will be a covered expo of classic bikes, autograph signing sessions, Jimmy Verburgh's ‘FMX4ever' team, a kids' area with bouncy castle, trampolines and ‘grime', and – beginning on Wednesday evening – entertainment in the party- tent.
All profits will be donated to charity projects selected by Stefan Everts and focusing mainly on children and youth: ‘Een Hart voor Limburg' (Koning Boudewijnstichting), ‘Make a Wish', Ter Heide (care centre for people with a serious or multiple mental disability), MediClowns, BuSO Tongelsbos (children with ASS, behavorial and emotional difficulties), Bednet and Fondatioun Kriibskrank Kanner (a Luxemburg/ Belgian child cancer foundation).
To raise extra funds, exclusive ‘Everts & Friends' tee-shirts and caps will be sold online – www.evertsandfriends.be/shop – at this year's most important Belgian motocross races. Also two exclusive art works will be sold by auction on the day.
And anyone owning a Honda Camino, scooter, moped (max 75cc and automatic) can compete themselves in two special races, each with a Le Mans start.
