MRS Sherco rider, Gary Macdonald, from Kinlochleven, has won the 2010 Scottish Adult Trials Championship, bringing the 25-year-old joiner's tally to five Scottish adult titles. The Lochaber club rider clinched the honours by winning the Valente Trial at Killin on August 30.
A delighted Gary said: "Five titles in the bag is a good feeling, however, I would like to think there are a few more championships I can win”
Runner-up spot goes to Stevenston club member Craig Houston, switching mid-season from Beta to Sherco power, Craig has improved greatly since taking Youth A honours in previous seasons. Third position goes to Lanarkshire's Ian MacPhail, riding his Montesa 4RT, another former youth championship winner.
SACU Trials chairman, John Moffat said: "It's heartening to see all the top three positions filled by former Scottish youth competitors that have all come up through our youth ranks.”
He continued: "We are currently considering ideas to further improve the Scottish trials scene and this year we are very grateful to have had the support of Aquawash High Pressure Washers – Trials Control Unit, courtesy of Iain Shankie which has added a professional touch to the championship rounds this season.”
The Scottish Clubman Championship title goes to Gas Gas mounted Lee Tinney of the Dunfermline club, with Montesa 4RT-mounted Inverness club rider, David Moffat taking the runner-up position with Lanarkshire's David Anderson on a Gas Gas in third spot.
The support championship, which encompasses Youth, Pre-65, Twin-shock and Over 40 classes, still has two rounds to go and their final positions will be announced in late October.
All the 2009 Scottish Champions, plus the second and third finishers in each category will receive their trophies at the annual SACU presentation of awards on Sunday, November 29, at Motherwell Civic Centre.
