REGISTRATION is now open for the 2008/ 2009 British Supercross Championship and will only be available through the ACU office. The ACU will handle all registration duties through the office in Rugby and at each event, and as usual there will be a healthy number of Youth and and Amateur titles on the line as well as a new British only Pro class.
Some changes have been made to the Youth classes that prospective riders should take note of.
The Big-wheel 85cc class will be dropped and replaced with a new Supermini class. Supermini will allow some riders to enter both the Small-wheel 85cc class as well as the Supermini. Riders who would have been eligible for Big-wheel 85cc will now run in Supermini. Riders eligible for the Small-wheel 85cc class who are 11 or older will be eligible to enter both the Supermini and Small-wheel 85cc classes. Eligibility for the Small Wheel class will remain unchanged.
Series registration fees have also been restructured. Last year riders were required to pay the one-off series fee whether competing in one or four rounds. This year riders will have the option to pay the one-off series fee or be surcharged a single event series fee.
The up front one-off series fee will be the less-expensive route if riders plan to do the whole series. The entry fees for the remaining rounds can be paid closer to the time of each individual remaining round. If a rider intends to compete in the whole series it would be wise to complete all payments ahead of time to insure a place at each round.
Riders who placed in the top ten in last years series will be eligible to run their championship standing number providing they are competing in the same class this year.
All enquiries for registration must be done through the Auto Cycle Union motocross department on 01788-566400 or via post Auto Cycle Union, ACU House, Wood Street, Rugby, Warwickshire, CV21 2YX.
