LAST month FIM president Vito Ippolito (pictured left) said he wanted the world's top riders to come together in a true' world series in motocross and supercross.

Youthstream president Giuseppe Luongo has now presented his master plan' to achieve this by 2014!

Luongo told industry representatives in Geneva last week that

from 2011, the World Motocross Championship would not start until mid-May after the completion of the AMA Supercross series and that the motocross series would visit all continents and run until the end of October!

The theory is that: It would be possible for riders and teams to enter both championships, attract more sponsors, increase TV coverage, develop the sport even more and bring the best riders from both championships to the fans worldwide.

Just how successful the restructuring will be in achieving its aims is questionable.

While a number of MX2 GP kids may be interested in taking up the opportunity to ride the Lites class in America, the more mature MX1 riders are generally past the childish infatuation with the glamour of the USA and even fewer of the top names would be interested in making a fool of themselves at the indoor game against a home contingent who have been brought up on a diet of supercross.

Granted the present day kids like Musquin, Roczen and Paulin will become the next generation of MX1 stars, but they too will be older and wiser by the time they advance to 450cc machines on a full-time basis.
