Good Man Eddy!

FOR the second year in succession, the grand finale of the Putoline XC Championship, organised by fasteddyracing.com, was held at the magnificent Jurby Head track on the Isle of Man. In this mecca of motorsport, there is no more fitting a place than the home of the TT races and of Enduro World Champion, David Knight, to finish this premier Enduro series.
Paul Edmondson had already claimed the Putoline XCPro title, but many of the other classes still hinged on a good outingin the final round and many of the classes were too tight to call goinginto this tough event.
A large contingent of local riders swelled theranks but, for many, it was the first time they had seen the deep sandand terrain that the Jurby Head track offers. It takes, on average, atleast 30 minutes to acclimatise to the conditions, by which time manyriders are already feeling the strain. Virtually none of the mainlandriders ever get to see conditions such as the course at Jurby Head andit is a real shock to the system having to deal with the hard-packedsand of the cliff-top and the loose, deep sand of the beach and dunes.
There is nowhere to rest at Jurby and even amomentary lack of concentration costs dear. Balance and control areeverything and no one demonstrated this more aptly than Fast Eddy'himself, Paul Edmondson. With the Championship title already in hispocket, he was last off the line in the Saturday afternoon Pro, Expertand Super Clubman race. The class entry included quite a few topmotocross riders who ripped it up and initially gave Eddy a run for hismoney.
Young Matt Moffitt had ridden in the training day,the Youth race and then in the Pro class race where he finished second- a talented rider with a great future ahead of him. Matt Lund and RobMeek were always in contention and, along with Moffitt, all threefinished on 20 laps, one lap down on Edmondson.
