GT cup kicks off
By TMX Archives on 7th Mar 14
Building on the outstanding success of last years first run ACU GT Cup series, this years championships kick-off at Mildenhall Suffolk on March 8/9.
Looking at the youth contenders in the Open 125s, watch out for Henry Williams, Rob Yates, Josh Coleman, Michael Ellis, Mitchell Warhurst and Oli Benton as they crank up the pressure on the adult contenders.
The Rookie section gets a new name as it becomes Youth Lites, and new Dantec Husqvarna UK signing, Tony Saunders, will really fancy his chances here.
Saunders finished third in last season's series, but he can expect a full-on challenge from last year's 85cc champ, Henry Siddiqui, as he now moves up a class.
Along with Siddiqui expect fireworks from MJW Kawasaki teamsters Will Keogh and Will Jeonney, plus Kyle Lane, Passion Racing Kawasaki runner Charlie Putnam, Ethan Gatenby, Connor Dennis and Jake Edey on the Gear 4/ M Tech Tuning KTM amongst others.
In the Big-wheel 85s, Callum Green, Dexter Douglas, Ethan Winchester and Tommy Lockhart stand out as strong candidates for gold.
Also in the mix will be Harry Kimber, a first-year upgrade to Big-wheels, who is a good bet to push them all the way.
The battle for Small-wheel 85 honours could be a much more open affair but Taylor Hampshire, and Connor Fish both represent a good bet for a podium position or two.
Having said this also watch out for section newbies Tyler Rowe, Reece Martin and Lewis Wood.
Down in the 65s there is perhaps the most intriguing clash, as last year's Auto king Charlie Heyman takes on a gaggle of more experienced Junior heavyweights.
Lining-up with Heyman will be Louie Kessell, current champ Eddie Jay Wade, Bobby Bruce and Jack Grayshon.
In the Autos, as always it's a bit of an unknown quantity, as some fledgling runners hit the National tracks for the first time – but with Billy Moriarty showing promise at the close of last year's campaign he could be the one to beat.
