SATURDAY is the big one, the best one-day trial in the World, which means, of course, The Scott Trial. This unique time and observation epic over the Yorkshire moors is an absolute institution and thousands will once again turn out to get involved in this fast-moving Richmond Motor Club promotion.

Just short of 200 riders will line-up in the start field at Feldom Lane, just up the road from the village of Marske, near Richmond, and there's plenty of quality in the quantity!

The entry is headed by eight-times Scott winner Graham Jarvis (pictured with James Dabill) who returns to defend his crown after a year spent riding extreme enduros as a Sherco factoy rider. Graham might be short of trials practice but it would be a brave man who would write-off his chances in an event that he has dominated over the past decade.

Up against Graham is a Who's Who' of current British aces led by reigning British Trials Champ James Dabill, fresh from last weekend's win in the Lakes Two-Day and the man who set fastest time in last year's Scot, clocking five-hours two-minutes and 48 seconds. 2008 was a tough year as well with only 33 per cent of the starters officially being classified as finishers.

And wherever James is, his pal and adversary Michael Brown won't be far away and the Sherco factory star will certainly be backing himself for victory come Saturday evening.

After these three, just take your pick. Beta's Ian Austermuhle is always a threat in the Scott and fellow Beta riders include James Lampkin, his cousins Ben and Dan Hemingway while Alexz Wigg and British Expert A champ Sam Connor will be looking to strike a blow for the southern lads in the Yorkie stronghold.
