Iwan Bolt's the door on Billy

WESTMORLAND Motor Club held the final round of the National Youth Championships this weekend up onthe fells above High Newton, West Cumbria. Saturday saw the Youth C and D classes do battle in what can only be described as torrential conditions. As the day progressed the weather worsened and as the majority of Cumbria became flooded, it was no surprise that the rocky sections deteriorated, leading to many riders calling it a day.
In Youth C, the championship title was still undecided with both Iwan Roberts and Billy Bolt in contention. However, at the end of the day, the consistent low lap scores posted by Roberts were enough to see him end the season as the champ- ion, just two marks clear of Bolt.
Meanwhile, in Youth D, with the title already in the bag, Jack Pearce took the Medium-wheels win. In the Small-wheels many rider struggled, with the small bikes struggling to find grip in the harsh conditions. Zac Collinson gave it his all and posted some good lap scores to take a win and finish the season in third overall.
With the course plotters anticipating the worst on Sunday, they were ready to make some swift section alterations early on Sunday morning. In complete contrast to Saturday's conditions, Sunday dawned bright and breezy for the Youth A and B contenders.
Both the Youth A and B championships had previously been decided, with Ben Morphett claiming Youth A and Richard Sadler taking Youth B.
On the day, however, it was the host Northern centre's Jonny Walker who came out on top in Youth A, posting a superb score of just 19 on lap two to finish the season with a strong result.
Meanwhile, in Youth B, Chris Short's consistency throughout the three-lap 12-section course saw him finish 12 marks clear of his championship rivals.
