Jarvis and Clark take to the Dale

ROCHDALE & DMC held two days of training sessions at Lee Mill quarry recently, when the first day's session was aimed at Novice riders up to Intermediate standard with reigning British Champion Graham Jarvis and Expert Dan Clark giving out the instruction.
Most of the 20 places available were taken by younger members of theclub with just a couple of adult riders mixing it with the youngsters, writes Alan Lord.
The riders where split into two groups, one having a session withGraham in the morning and then moving over to Dan in the afternoon andvisa versa. The day itself was absolutely scorching with sunshine (mostunusual for Lee Quarry) and there where a few glowing faces by the endof the day - don't know if it was the riding or the sunshine to blame.
The second day was run for club officials and helpers with justGraham Jarvis doing the instructing. This was based on Intermediatelevel riders with a total of ten riders allowed. Some of this groupwere well past any improvement in their riding styles but Graham didtry his best. There were some pretty spectacular crashes in theafternoon's session with Stuart Cripps winning the award for most scaryriding style. He was followed into second place by Martin Lord, although not as scary to watch, still provided great entertainment withhis attempted rock steps and the ability to fall in a big pile on thefloor.
Thanks to Lancashire council for allowing the use of the land at Lee Mill.
The club are planning on running more training days later in the year.
