JAMES Dabill has been something of a revelation since his surprise switch to the Italian-based Future TRW Montesa four-stroke and following his recent good run of form both pre-season and in the World championships, the Cookridge boy continued his 2007 campaign with an emphatic win at the third round of the Italian domestic series held near Torino. Dabill staged an impressive late charge to snatch a final lap victory, as he posted the best lap score of the trial.

It is unfortunate for his British fans that James'team has targeted their (home) Italian series, although it is probablyultimately better for the lad's overall development. Last weekend'sevent was certainly one of two halves, with the ten section coursecomprising five natural hazards in a limestone stream and five man-madesections.

James did not start particularly well, and foundhimself trailing Maurino by two marks as the first punch cards wereexchanged. Dabill responded to the challenge and produced amuch-improved second lap, with a score nearly half that of his earlierperformance. This was still not enough for James to take the lead asMaurino matched him mark for mark.
