JH RACING landed the following statement last week announcing plans for 2009. "JH Quad Racing, headed up by Hefin Lewis and Jed Soar, has enjoyed fantastic support for the 2008 IOPD QuadX Championship, from Junior through to Over 35.
"With top tracks and excellent organisation of events, they have established the bench mark for UK Quad racing.
Its now time to move it to the next level. In 2009 JH will present the 2009 UK QUAD CROSS CHAMPIONSHIPS.
"It will consist of a championship class which will be limited to 30 places with two support classes which will replace the current A and B class.
"Entrants will have to qualify for places and be 18 on or before the first meeting of 2009 and have at least one season at 450 adult level. The championship will also be open to European riders.
"The championship will consist of eight rounds within the current 12 round format with one to drop and will have a new points-scoring system.
"There will be a minimum first prize of £3,000 with second and third receiving similar cash prizes, trophies will go down to sixth place.
"Cash rewards will be paid throughout the season for first, second and third place finishers.
"The decision to invest in this type of format has come from seeing this countries professional riders having to chase a weak British title with little or no reward at the end, along with having to take a support role at British motocross events.
"We will move the sport forward and give our riders the publicity and rewards they rightly deserve.
"The two support classes along with the Masters, youth and junior classes will all chase their own respective UK QuadX championship titles.
"The UK QuadX championship will consist of 12 rounds and will be made up of six two-day events at some of the UK's top motocross tracks.
"The championship will be authorised by the IOPD.”
