THE Dirtbike-Traxs crew spent a week preparing the course, based on the Butts motocross track, incorporating a trade-mark extreme section comprising of logs and rocks, and cutting in new tracks to ensure the course would challenge the massive 450 riders entered for the third round of the Putoline Hare Scramble Series.

The weekend's activities commenced at 12 noon onSaturday, with a National Putoline Youth Hare Scramble round for 70young riders.

The weather was outstanding, with the sun beatingdown heat and dust were going to make this race more difficult for theyoung guns. Hence, the track crew modified the course to avoid thedifficult rocky woodland climb and extreme rock section.

As the clock hit mid-day the Youth racers wereoff. Josh Bendell took an early lead but was soon passed by MichaelBriggs and Josh Taylor. Running near the front early on was Rob Dawson, but later he was the victim of poor maintenance as his seat fell off.

Briggs was on a mission, stretching his lead atthe front with some fast riding, taking the win from Taylor with a fourminute winning margin.
