Ladies set for battle!

THE British Ladies Trials Championships kick-off on Sunday, April 22, using the testing rocky banks and big steps of Metheringham Quarry, near Lincoln, writes Hannah Styles.

This is the first of six scheduled rounds in 2007 and reigningLadies champion, Becky Cook, is back to defend her title. However, thisseason should be very interesting as there are a lot more ladies andgirls competing.

Becky will face stiff competition from Donna Fox, now back on Shercomachinery and keen to show of her skill. Yorkshire's Katy Sunter isalso raring to go and keen to mix it with Cook and Fox.

Youth A class will be a battle this year as reigning Youth B champ,Joanne Coles, has moved up and is aiming to challenge defending Youth Achamp, Emma Bristow. Emma will have her hands full this year withthreats from three quarters - Sasha Turkington, Joanne Coles and SaskiaBaxter.

There are a whole new bunch of girls moving up into the Youth Bseries with Emma Thompson, Robyn Alderson, Danielle Whitham all out tobattle the established class riders Hannah Styles, Harriet Peacock andSara Hatton.

Youth C riders are always full of surprises. Chloe Richardson,Hannah Richardson, Louise Alford, Kate Hunter, Nikita Smith andVictoria Payne should all show off their abilities.

Katy Bullock and Emma Morphett will be in action to show what they can do in the Girls Intermediate class.

A large contingent of British females recently travelled to Spain tocontest the UEM European Ladies Trials series and all posted goodresults. Becky Cook and Hannah Styles both claimed podium finishes,Becky in third place in the UEM Ladies class while 13-year-old Hannahtopped UEM Ladies International class.

Start time is 11am on Sunday and there will be three laps of 12 sections. There's a large parking area, toilets and a snack van.
