PAUL Edmondson and Steve Ireland, the men behind the GBXC series, have come up with a brand new race series in mid England' aimed at bringing Motocross and Enduro together with a four-round championship run on Saturdays from May through to July.
The events will all be based on stubble-field type venues, with small patches of woodland linking them, to offer a smaller than normal Enduro course but a longer than normal Motocross circuit. All of the venues will be based in mid England with fun being the main focus. The GBXC team is trying to encourage all of the Midlands-based motocross riders to come and have a go at cross-country racing. The format is simple with riders getting three races each during the course of the day. Adults will get three 45-minute motos and Juniors will ride three 30-minute races, with one overall result per class at the end. Adult classes will be Open, Clubman, Veteran and Sportsman Enduro plus Expert, Senior, and Junior MX. Junior classes will be Up to 65cc, Up to 85cc and Up to 150cc. The Mid England MXC is being run on a Saturday so as to not interfere with the already very busy Motocross and Enduro calendars, thus giving riders chance to come and sample quality XC racing on fun, easy, rideable courses. The venues will all be flowing and offer good parking.
The venues and dates for MEMXC are as follows:
Saturday, May 31 Midlands
Saturday, June 14 Wem, nr Shrewsbury
Saturday, August 2 Shropshire
Saturday, September 27 Shropshire
Once again Edmondson and Ireland have come up with the logistics to promote and organise this new series and their GBXC (Great Britain Cross-Country) credentials will ensure some great events.
Riders will have to book in quick as entries limited to 200 per event will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. We're told that riders will not need to have licences or need to register for the series.
More information and entry details will be released very soon. In the meantime, anyone wishing further details should contact Steve Ireland on 07929-902692 or Paul Edmondson on 07973-563191.
