Last week's International Dirt Bike Show saw the launch of a new Quad Cross Country Series for 2011. The ACU Quad Cross Country Championship will be a six-round series based in the Midlands and organised by a new club, Quad Events UK.

The new club is headed up by Rocketman Racing's technical chief, Jason Smith, along with his wife Val, plus other well known faces, Garry Miller, Ant Barratt and Nick Selwyn. Further support comes from NORA-MX chiefs Chris Murphy and Joe Harman in the form of event equipment and organisational advice. Although the series dates and venues have not been finalised yet, the aim is for them not to clash with other major ACU club events. All rounds will start with a two-hour Youth race for riders from 12 to 15 on 250cc stock, standard and modified machines. This will be followed by a three hour adult race with classes for Championship, Experts, Clubman, 4x4/Utility, Ladies and Over 40's. In addition to the cross country championship, the club also announced a nine-hour event in the style of continental long distance events like Pont de Vaux. The new event, called simply T9, will run over the May Bank Holiday weekend, again at a Midland venue for easy nationwide access. All events will include transponder timing, with live TV screen updates, travelling marshals, medics and quality toilet and catering facilities. For further information call Jason Smith on 07831-177974.
