Following the move from top Brit Emma Bristow to rivals Sherco before Christmas the Girona-based Ossa factory has announced the signing of a two-year contract with home, Spanish lady rider Sandra Gomez.

After testing the factory Ossa TR280i, and having been very impressed by the lightness of the bike and the progressive fuel-injected-engine behaviour, Sandra, previously Gas Gas mounted, took the decision to ride the Ossa in order to fight for the first place on the podium.

Sandra will participate in the FIM Women's Trial Championship, Spanish Championship and, for the first time in her career, the legendary Scottish Six Days of Trial.

The Spaniard is no newcomer to the Highlands though as she has competed in the Pre-65 Two Day Trial, based in Kinlochleven, and finished 42nd in 2012 -–mounted on a 197cc James. Not bad from 180 starters.

So the Scottish will hold no terrors for her.

Sandra's curriculum defines her position as one of the best current female trial rider with a third position in the FIM Women's Trial Championship, with two second positions in Switzerland and Andorra, a second place on the podium in the
Spanish Trial Championship, following significant presence in some events of the Youth Trial Championship.

Once again the FIM Women's World Trials Championship looks like being a really closely-fought one.

Multiple – and reigning – Ladies champ Laia Sanz remains the one to beat and last year the Barcelona rider added the Ladies World Enduro title to her ever-growing list of achievements. And that before tackling the Dakar Rally where she again took the Ladies prize after a battling performance.

Last season the British duo of Becky Cook and Emma Bristow both put pressure on Sanz and, with Beta -mounted Becky fitter and sharper than ever before  and Emma gunning for glory on her new factory Sherco, the series is already shaping up to be  the hardest fought in its relatively short history.
