Hot on the heels of last weekend's Beachcross event at Ingoldmells, to the north of Skegness, the QRA has announced a three-hour Beachduro at the same venue for the weekend of October 31 and November 1. The Saturday will see a three-hour support race for Solo motorcycles, with the Quads taking the prime Sunday slot for the main three-hour Gold Rush race, along with a Youth quad support race.
Last weekend's Beachcross format event was very much a pilot event, designed to test out the venue and sort out basic organisational problems, explained the QRA's Tony Nash.
The beach owners at Joe's Beach Bar, along with the local council and police, were more than happy with this pilot event and can see the potential for a far bigger enduro event later in the year outside of the summer holiday season. Ingoldmells and Skegness have all the facilities and infrastructure in terms of parking areas, entertainment, restaurants and accommodation to run a big event and we are aiming to keep the costs down for the riders, their teams and the supporters. I went along and I have to say Skegness was a revelation. It was clean, tidy, inexpensive, lively and fun. I didn't ride, but I wish I had. And I will definitely be on the start line on November.
