WOR events are in action this weekend at Hawkstone Park with an action packed weekend.
Kicking off the off road festival weekend of action is the Race Experience Day (RED) session on Saturday April 20. As usual the RED has unlimited track time from 8.30am till 11.30am followed by a fun 1 hour race from 12 noon till 1pm.
The RED is aimed at all levels of ability, and caters for the whole spectrum of ages. The course will be like that of other years, using a massive part of the famous motocross track and of course a big loop out in the trees.
Then at 1.30pm till 3.30pm it's time for a new Hard / Extreme Enduro called ‘The Dogs Of WOR Hard Enduro'. This will run as a 2-hour Hare Scramble special. The course will also use a big chunk of the motocross track, but the main excitement and challenge will be set in the woodlands and rocks.
Some intense climbs and drop-offs will make up the gnarly track and challenge the riders that tackle this new event. Expect tree roots, rock climbs, berms, sharp steep banks, and intense loops on the banks of the woods...It will have a bit of everything.
Finally to round out the Satuday's activities will be a return to last Septembers superb addition to the events schedule, the ‘Ride Hawkstone' 1.5hr open session. This Kicks off at 4pm. You can ride either the full motocross track or the full Enduro loop. Its your call. No racing, just practice and playtime.
Remember, WOR Events are the only Enduro/ Hare Scrambles promoter/ organiser that is able to use Hawkstone Park and the surrounding woodlands.
The following day Sunday April 21 will see the WOR team once again take over Hawkstone Park for another special day of off-road dirtbike activity.
The day kicks off at 9am with the Kids Hare Scramble Enduro. This is a 1.5hr race for the 65cc, Small-wheels 85s,, Big-wheels 85s and Over 85cc (max 150cc). The kids will get a massive circuit that will use 90% of the motocross track and all of the woodlands loop.
At 11am the weekend's main events will kick off, The Michelin Moto Duros. As with previous years, riders ability groups are split into A and B categories. The A group is for Pro, Expert, Expert Vets, Clubman Vets, Clubman 2T and Clubman 4T. Meanwhile the B group is for Sportsman, Sportsman Vets, Novice, Youth 13-16 and Ladies.
The main difference this year is that the riders get will get three 45-minute motos, each instead of the four 40-minute motos.
Using the majority of the motocross track and every inch of the Woodlands and surrounding areas, the track will once again offer the riders a fantastic opportunity to ride and enjoy this world famous circuit.
WOR Events will include its Aled Evans Memorial event on Saturday, April 20 – starting at 1.30pm – at the world famous Hawkstone Park venue.
The ‘Dogs of WOR Hard Enduro' is being run in Aled's memory and the club feels there is no better way of remembering one of its ‘fallen members'.
This event marks the fifth anniversary (to the day) of the tragic passing of one of WOR's and Steve Ireland's great mates. Aled died in a work related accident that was, and still is, very hard to come to terms with for all Aled's family and friends.
The ‘Dogs of WOR' is going to be a tough, hard enduro – just like Aled liked – and as a mark of respect there will be a one-minute silence in his honour on the start line.
Every year on the weekend closest to April 20, WOR dedicates a race to Aled's memory to ensure he is always remembered within the sport he loved.
The superb Aled Evans Memorial Shield will go to the rider that race boss Steve Ireland deems as the true ‘Dog of WOR' of the day.
A collection will be made for the Air Ambulance to accompany this event.
