The stunning hillside track at St Harmon, just outside Rhayader, Mid-Wales, will reverberate to the sound of competition motorcycles this Wednesday evening, June 2, when the long-awaited first round of the PAR Homes/ Baches Bargains-sponsored Welsh Open Motocross Championship takes place.

There's a brilliant national-class entry signed-up, led by American Ben Lamay – a new name to the series! Also staring in this fantastic line-up are 2008 series winner, Ray Rowson, on-form Irish ace Martin Barr and top Welsh rider Jamie Lewis, Wayne Smith and Matt Burrows who will be hoping to field a strong challenge in front of the large crowd at the Cwmythig Hill circuit and hoping to earn some of the large prize purse on offer. Also hoping to make the trip down to Wales is another former series winner, Gordon Crockard.

Club members have been busy improving the spectacular track, which includes a downhill ski-jump, wall of death berm and the infamous 65ft finish line table-top jump.

With practice at 5.45pm and the first race at 6.45pm there's a slickly run ten-race programme – three races per group, Expert, Senior/ Junior and Novice/ Local Beginner, plus a Grand Final ‘Dash for Cash' race at the end of proceedings for the top 125/250F and Open Experts on the night.

The circuit, virtually the whole of which can be seen from any one vantage point, also has a full trackside public address system, keeping the large crowds informed – 2,000 spectators turned out for the series opener round last year – will be top motocross commentator, Kenny Kay.
