Roll on the 2013 season

Colunists

WE havent reached the end of 2012 yet but already many of us are already looking forward to 2013 - mainly in search of a genuine summer, with real, hot sunshine and dry tracks with large crowds sitting on grassy banks...well, we can dream.

But, ever the optimist I am still looking forward to the 2013 season. In trials I am looking forward to an end to the constant arguing over the Stop - No Stop debate. Actually, the real problem is that there IS no debate.

There are people in two camps and none pauses to listen to the other's point of view.

They are both convinced they are in the right. Which is why we are going precisely nowhere.

I still maintain that ALL parties - including importers and riders - have to get round the same table with the organising bodies, forget their differences - and go back to basics.

Why do we want a British/ World championship? What are everyone's objectives? And how will we know when we have achieved them?

These are fundamentals and until we have the answer to those questions it is absolutely immaterial what the observing rules are. That is just detail.

So, sad to say but trials still has a long way to go before any 2013 championship catches the imagination.

What a good job that once you duck under the British champs the feet-up scene is thriving with many clubs boasting very healthy entries.

Moving on, I am much more optimistic to championship motocross and I confess to looking forward to the 2013 ACU British Champs.

In this week's paper you will see we nailed an exclusive test of what will be Brad Anderson's LPE Kawasaki.

Steve James is hyper enthusiastic about bagging Brad for 2013 and the return of the Geordie British Bulldog is exactly the shot in the arm the British series needs.

Yes, it is good for the series that overseas riders of the calibre ofSteve Ramon and Jonathan Barragan have been persuaded to try their luck in Britain.

But in order to have the magic effect of drawing the crowds in ever greater numbers you need that something extra.

And Brad is one of the very few individuals that has that indefinable quality that can, in brutally honest terms, stick a couple of thousand fans on the gate and bring a meeting alive.

I genuinely believe that, as long as we don't have  a long list of walking wounded, the 2013 ACU Maxxis series will be the best for a long time.

My money says FatCat will be busting at the seems when round one kicks-off...
