TWO weeks after his crash during pre-qualifying for the Benelux GP, Sebastien Pourcel has undergone another series of examinations on his left shoulder which was injured in the crash.

Sebastien has now scheduled several consultations with some leading French specialists to decide whether or not he will need surgery to repair the injuries. He had to wait longer than expected to get a verdict from Professor Olivier Dufour, as the shoulder was too sore after the crash to deliver enough information on the first scans. Recently, Seb had an arthroscopic procedure which revealed that the tendons are stretched.
"I had to wait several days to get a verdict from Olivier, and now I need to visit several of the best specialists in order to make the best decision and to decide whether or not I need a surgery. I already know that an operation would mean eight weeks of recovery, followed by a few weeks of training before returning to racing,” explained the factory Kawasaki rider.
"I'm working daily on my right shoulder, injured in Guadeloupe last season, and every week I feel better and better,'' he added, confirming that both injuries were not painful.
Kawasaki Racing Team management is awaiting more details about Sebastien's recovery. "As we've repeatedly said after the crash in Valkenswaard, Seb will be back racing only when he is fully fit. At the moment we need to know if he needs surgery or not, and then we'll finalise a decision together with Kawasaki Japan.
"At the moment we have a couple of options to replace Seb during several GP's, and we'll give more information as soon as possible,” explained team owner, Roger Pourcel.
