Sherco Academy

FOLLOWING the recent announcement that MRS have just taken on A Class rider Jonathan Richardson to ride Sherco, comes the news of the Sherco UK Academy plans for 2008.
It is no surprise that heading this Academy will be four times British Champion Graham Jarvis. Coming from the deep south, it was quite an achievement that Graham won every single Youth championship, bearing in mind there isn't one single rock or stream within 150 miles from his home.
However, once Graham moved into the adult scene, it was a different story and he struggled to come to terms with the transition. When an offer came along to join the MRS team with Malcolm Rathmell, Graham was as-tute enough to realise that he needed all the experience the Rathmells' could give if he was to have any chance of achieving his ambitions on the world stage.
Four British Champion-ships, three times fourth in the World Championship, five individual world round wins, four SSDTs and seven Scott trials followed and Graham would be the first to admit that none of this would have been possible without the vast experience and knowledge passed down to him by Malcolm.
Now Graham is coming to the end of his riding career, he very much wants to pass this knowledge on to some young riders. It was Graham who Has been pestering Malcolm and Rhoda all year to take on Jonathan Richardson, having seen the potential and will to win he sees in the young
Skeeby rider.
Along with Jonathan, Malcolm has been very impressed with Richard Sadler who stands a very good chance in the B Class next year. Living within a stone's throw of Richardson, it is intended that Graham will be able to take both riders out every week.
Jonathan had his first session with Graham last Thursday, on the bike and in the gym, so he already has a good idea of what's to come! Along with these two riders Graham will be helping Jack Thompson, Jonathan Walker, Andy Chilton, Luke Walker, Chris Stay and the two excellent girl riders Joanne Coles and Hannah Styles.
Long-standing sponsors of MRS, MHT Technology are more than delighted that there are now two local riders in the team and Malcolm Tennant has already pledged sponsorship to help them for the championship next year. As well as this, TW Bikesport will be giving help and sponsorship to Jonathan for all the championships. MRS look on this as a long term programme and have made Sherco fully aware of the work and effort which will be input to achieve their aims. The factory are 100% behind their efforts as they look on British riders as a very good option for the future.
So it's looking like a very busy year for British Champion Graham Jarvis in 2008 and if there is one rider out of these who can achieve the samsuccess as Graham has then Malcolm and Rhoda will feel their job is really worthwhile.
