FIVE-times World Sidecar-cross Champion, Kristers Sergis, has announced that he is planning to make the switch to four wheels for 2009.The thirty-five year-old Latvian is continuing his association with KTM to contest the Goldspeed EMX European Quad Championship After hinting at retirement last season, Sergis suggested a possible move to quad racing on Latvian national television in December, before confirming in the Latvian press earlier this month that he will contest the full European series.
With the 2009 FIM World Sidecar-cross Championship running alongside each of the six rounds that make up the Goldspeed-sponsored series, Sergis will no doubt be well supported and spurred on by his loyal fans as he does battle on circuits he has visited many times before.
With many of the UK's top riders joining the elite of European Quad Racing for the opener in Gdansk on May 17, the series is quickly gathering popularity and momentum and promises to provide some spectacular racing action.
