IT has just been announced by the Dyfed Dirt Bike Club that round four of the Ian Durston Plant Services-sponsored British Sidecar-cross championship will now be held at Tavernspite, instead of Talsarn.Riders are reminded that transponders will be required for the next round at Desertmartin on Saturday, April 26. If a transponder has not been used for a considerable time it could take longer than normal to fully recharge.
STEVE Tye has just announced that the 2008 Clubman Sidecar Championship has just gained another two rounds.
Both additional rounds will be held at Bletchington and will be run by Nora Quads. The first one is on August 3 and the second one is on September 14.
Anyone who entered the recently cancelled Arncott meeting will be able to use this entry for the first of the Bletchington meetings.
THIS weekend the opening round of the 2008 World Sidecar-cross Championship will take place at Oss, Holland.
Six-times winner, Daniel Willemsen, will be starting his title defence without normal passenger Reto Grutter. Reto was hurt at a recent meeting in Switzerland and will probably be out of action for approximately three-weeks. It is believed that the replacement passenger will be the veteran Austrian Bruno Kaelin. Bruno is a very capable passenger but whether he can withstand the extremely demanding pace that Willemsen sets remains to be seen.
Leading the riders who hope to stop Willemsen's seventh crown is the Latvian crew of Kristers Sergis and Kaspars Stupelis. Sergis had the metal pin removed from his leg over the winter and has been able to resume full training. The pair rode two-weeks ago in Wohlen on their new KTM AYR and won both races with ease. Last weekend they rode in the Dutch championship at Varsseveld and won both races comfortably, inflicting defeat on Willemsen in his home championship for the first time in over a year.
Also hoping to challenge for first place are the Belgian pairing of Jan Hendrickx and Tim Smeuninx and the Swiss driver Andy Burgler and his Swedish passenger Daniel Fagerberg.
With the Watson brothers missing from this year's line-up, the leading Brits are Scott Wilkinson/ Gary Burt and Stuart Brown/ Luke Peters. Also entered are Paul Pelling/ Tim Breacher, Mark and Gary Kinge plus Daniel and Joe Millard. Riding with a Luxembourg licence will be John Lyne/ Peter Girling and finally partnering Swedish driver, Sonnie Folkesson, will be Colin Dunkley.
