The Tough One's got Tougher

WITH only just two weeks to go to the premier Extreme Enduro in the UK, The Tough One', organiser WOR Events has released some important race news on the January 20 off-road bike fest at Nantmawr Quarry, near Oswestry.
From the point of view of mere mortal competitors, there's some bad news – the Tough One just got tougher!
Race director and course-plotter, Steve Ireland, has been with his track-building team at the famous quarry recently making final plans and preparations for the course and how it will all take shape.
The circuit will run in the reverse direction to last year's awesome event but will still include the infamous ‘Root of All Evil'. As if that was not tough enough, the sneaky clerk of the course has included another hill-climb that will make the ‘Root' look tame. This new section will feature three choices of ascent – two slightly easier, though slower, and than the main one much quicker, if successfully conquered!
The challenge will be interesting for both riders and spectators alike. Ropes will be attached to the surrounding trees for spectators and marshals to hold onto to help stricken riders – gulp!
Last year's ‘Boulder' section is back, but this year that will be ‘a lot' harder with the distance doubled and some BIG rocks to negotiate. Add this to some new very steep descents and rock strewn off-camber passes and you will appreciate see that this year's event is really not for the faint hearted.
