Time for a Big Mac

THE MacDonald Trial, second round of the 2010 ACU British Trials Championship, comes up this weekend - a few weeks later than originally planned. It had to be postponed due to the FIM changing the Indoor World series dates, writes Colin Bullock.
However, the trip up to Scotland is on the cards this weekend for the Macdonald Trial, held as usual at Kinlochleven at The Mound, right on the Loch side which provides one of the most spectacular backdrops to any sporting event.
Last year the organisers had a few problems with parking, as the old school playground was no longer available due to re-developments. This year however there should not be the same issues as facilities at the old site are available. All of the sections are just a few hundred yards away and within easy walking distance of parking. There will be three laps of 12 sections with three completely different routes for the Championship, Expert A and Expert B riders.
Reigning champ James Dabill has started the season in tremendous form winning the very difficult Scarborough round with a fair margin between himself and Michael Brown. Jack Challoner came home third ahead of Alexz Wigg in the opener and you can be sure Wiggy will be keen to get back on the podium. The two newcomers to the Class, Jonathan Richardson and Ben Morphett, both looked at home in the Championship class so it will be interesting to see how they both fair on the rock and mud at Kinlochleven.
In the Expert A group, Ian Austermuhle took the opening round and whenever he rides he will be very competitive. His main rivals could well be local Gary Macdonald who actually lives in the village, and look out for Jonny Walker who looks to have stepped-up his game this season.
