BRITAIN'S emerging young enduro star Tom Sagar became the third rider this season to win a round of the '07 Metzeler British Enduro Championship when the D3-Racing KTM rider topped both days of the WTRA organised Crychan Enduro, staged in Llandovery.

Showing the kind of form that earned him an Enduro Junior class WECvictory less than a month ago D3-Racing KTM rider Tom Sagar claimed hisfirst double Championship class British Enduro Championship win at thethird round of the '07 BEC series and in doing so moved to the top ofthe provisional BEC series standings.

Unable to compete at round two due to WEC duties and having placed asrunner-up to the now-injured Salminen (see story page 2) on both daysof round one, Sagar topped day one by 13 seconds while just threeseconds separated second, third and fourth placed riders EuanMcConnell, Jason Thomas and Paul Edmondson.

But it was Edmondson that was quickest over the opening day's threetimed tests and was it not for a 20 second penalty for not impoundinghis bike in parc ferme on Friday night the Suzuki rider would haveclaimed his first overall win of the '07 BEC series.

With Sagar topping the E2 and overall Championship class results, EuanMcConnell claimed yet another E3 class victory with his overallrunner-up result while Daryl Bolter's fifth place overall was goodenough to give him victory in Enduro 1.

Unusually, no competitors were permitted to walk the event's forestbased enduro test prior to the event, which resulted in several ridersbeing a little too cautious come their first timed run. One rider thatstruggled to perform at his best was round two winner Si Wakely whocould only manage sixth overall on day one.

With day one extremely dry, overnight rain suggested day two might be alittle more taxing on the riders but even with tighter check times andfour timed tests, five riders remained on time with the test decidingthe finishing order.
