Trials Torque: Toby’s getting all revved-up
By Team TMX on 29th Dec 15
YOUNG British prospect Toby Martyn, current European Youth and British A class champion, is looking eagerly forward to the 2016 season and the 15-year-old from Truro in Cornwall already has his year planned.
Toby's year will be based around the RT Keedwell British Championship where he has been given dispensation to move straight from the Youths to the Championship class. He will ride his 125 Beta in the first three rounds but will then step up to a 300 model when he turns 16 in June.
His international year will comprise selected Youth and Adult European Championship rounds and then, after he has turned 16, will contest the World Championship rounds in France, Belgium, the UK round at Tong and Italy.
In a packed calendar Toby will also contest the British SuperTrial Championship at Scarborough and the North Berks club's Seymour's Arena plus Barry Burton's YMSA series, the Richmond MCs Mintex Youth time trial plus selected UK nationals.
Toby, with dad Tim driving, motored up the 400-odd miles from Truro to John Lampkin's Beta HQ in deepest Yorkshire last week in order to pick up a new 300 Beta – and stayed for the Wetherby club trial at the weekend.
He then headed further north into Scotland for practice along with Tom Minta, Sandy Mack and his son Stuart.
He did have to promise his mum he'd be home for Christmas though...
