CAN you believe it, we are still waiting for summer to break-out Oop North and already the Scott Trial Regs are out!Yes, it's time to start thinking about the infamous unique Time and Observation event that will see something in the region of 75-sections set-out over a 75-mile long course out on the moors above Richmond, Yorkshire, and starting from the village of Marske.
The big date for your diaries, assuming that it is not already written in black ink, is Saturday, October 18. The trial follows the Lakes Two Day National the previous weekend.
The Scott Trial is a national institution and a major feat for the organising Richmond Motor Club who plan and mark the course over a huge area that involves a considerable amount of landowners, farmers, parishes, councils etc whose stipulations have to be accommodated.
Riders either love the Scott or hate it. The speed element fires some riders up but turns others off. If you are Yorkshire born and bred it doesn't actually matter whether you love it or hate it - you will ride it anyway!
This year if he rides Dougie Lampkin will be onto a hat-trick and would be red-hot favourite to do so given his recent form in Britain but there will be plenty of opposition in the shape of Michael Brown, James Dabill and of course Graham Jarvis.
T+MX will of course keep you right up to date with what is going on with the Scott, who is riding, where to watch etc just as soon as we find out. Meanwhile, if you want Scott Trial Regs of course you do there is only one thing to do and that is log onto www.richmondmotorclub.com and download them.
