The promoters of the ACU’s two flagship motocross series – the ACU British Motocross Championship and ACU Arenacross British Championship – have worked harmoniously to avoid a date clash which allows riders to commit to competing in both series. The offending weekend was April 26/27 when the Arenacross series will run their inaugural World Tour Finals in Abu Dhabi with the second round of the MXGB series planned for the next day. Obviously, this wasn’t going to work for the riders competing in both series and a revised calendar has been issued by the ACU.
“Rearranging the calendar and associated venues is never easy but it felt like for the good of the sport as a whole that we needed to make this happen,” says MXGB Series Director Paul Irwin. “Having a cohesive indoor and outdoor series working side by side and supporting each other, can only be good going forward.
“I would like to thank Andrew and Val at Norwich Vikings for being so accommodating with moving their date and I look forward to visiting Lyng at a different time of year than usual. Plans are progressing with the championship for 2025. I am pleased to share a revised list of provisional dates and venues, starting with the iconic Hawkstone Park at the end of March, Canada Heights, Blaxhall, Preston Docks, venue TBA that will be hosted by the Arenacross Team, a special doubleheader in Scotland and finishing the season at Lyng.
“We have also added a reserve date that we hope not to need - October 12. With rider registrations at an all-time high and overwhelming support from the industry, this is set to be a special year and not one to be missed.”
Arenacross head honcho Matt Bates is equally enthused. “The 2025 British motocross season promises to be better than ever (both indoors and outdoors) and by working together with the ACU will now allow the riders, teams, sponsors and fans to benefit from two great sports and have an opportunity to compete in the MXGB and the Arenacross championship without comprise – it gives me great confidence that the future of the sport is in good hands and look forward to our Arenacross team also staging a round of the MXGB Championship in 2025.”
