Dean Wilson (Armor Vision/St Blazey MX Honda) dominated round two of the Arenacross ACU British Championship winning both his heats and the Main Event to take a commanding series lead into rounds three and four at Belfast’s SSE Arena on the weekend of January 31/February 1. Joining the veteran Scot on the podium at Wembley were Conrad Mewse (Crendon Tru7 Honda) and Tommy Searle (Dirt Store Triumph).

The Main Event was a wild affair with Searle bagging the holeshot on his 250cc four-stroke before Mewse took over at the front. However, Wilson bided his time and with a third of the race complete made a move into first place and he’d not be headed again as Mewse chased hard to finish second with Searle a distant third.

Surprise of the night was DRT Kawasaki’s Taylor Hammal who ran a comfortable fourth throughout the 16-lap Main Event. Matt Bayliss (SC Sporthomes) and inaugural AX Champ Adam Chatfield (S Briggs Honda) rounded out the top six with LCQ winner Tom Grimshaw (Apico Honda) seventh.

It was a disappointing night for reigning champion Jack Brunell (Stark Future) who started at the back of the pack and was unable to make much forward progress through the pack and eventually placed ninth.

Wilson now leads the championship with a maximum score of 50 points with Chatfield second on 37 and Searle third with 35. Mewse is currently 28 points behind the pacesetter after missing round one while Brunell is sixth and still very much within striking distance of a podium position with four rounds left to run – Belfast, Aberdeen and Manchester which double up as the final qualifier for the AX World Tour Finals in amazing Abu Dhabi.
