Jason Meara ready to rumble as AX hits Belfast

The Belfast rounds of the Arenacross ACU British Championship at Belfast’s SSE Arena on the weekend of January 31/ February 1 will see local lad Jason Meara make a wildcard appearance for the D.A.D / APW team. The former tiler from Loughbrickland – just down the road from the Game of Thrones Studio Tour in nearby Banbridge – is a full-time pro for the first time in his career and starts the 2025 season feeling fitter, faster and more focussed than ever before but remains realistic about his chances in Belfast.
“Belfast Arenacross is always an exciting race to be a part of and I’m really looking forward to getting out there in front of a packed house again in my home city,” says Jason. “The other lads have a good head start with two rounds and a full off season already under their belt, but I’m not really worried about that, I’ll just go out there, try my best and enjoy the atmosphere. I want to thank the D.A.D / APW team for the opportunity and hopefully I can reward them with some decent rides, also an extended thanks to my outdoor team Moto-Cycle for being generous enough to let me race. Bring on next weekend, it’s always a brilliant event and experience.”
Meara won’t be the only local in the lineup as Apico Honda’s Martin Barr will look to improve his series ranking on home soil after a difficult start to the season that is no indication of his speed or effort. Jay McCrum and Nathan Green will be going for Amateur class glory while Lewis Spratt is looking for a top finish in the Futures class. The Supermini class will see Jack Deasy and Danil McKenna on the line while Bradley Thompson, Jax Weatherhead, Matthew Kelly and Erin Deazley all add extra flavour to the 65cc class.
