WITH Daniel Willemsen/ Reto Grutter already crowned 2007 World Champions, the final round of the Championship could have been something of an anti-climax. In the event, it was - and it wasn't!
Forty-six teams competed on Saturday for the 30places on the start-line so, as usual, competition was fierce.Willemsen headed Group A by three-seconds from Burgler, Joris Hendrickxand Soderqvist.
Sergis rear-wheel sprocket disintegrated,necessitating emergency repairs on the track before he could get to thework area, and he had to settle for sixth. Britain's solerepresentative, Andy Eastman and Steve Kirwin, lost their silencer andhad to sit out the final part of the session in 15th place. His luckheld and he qualified for his second GP.
Group B was also eventful! The Watson brothersrolled at one end of the start straight and Lyne's engine died at theother. When the dust settled, Rupeiks headed the group from Happichwith Watson sixth, Wilkinson seventh - his first front row start - andLyne tenth. Kinge was among those who missed out.
