DESPITE a difficult year and his mid-season split from the BMW Motorrad Motorsport team, David Knight, doesn't have any regrets about his decision to try something new' during 2009.

But having finished the year with Kawasaki, and finally claiming a World Enduro Championship day win, Knighter will rejoin KTM for 2010 and is looking forward to what he hopes will be a much more enjoyable, successful and productive season.

T+MX: As many will be aware 2009 was largely a tough and disappointing season for you. Were you able to take any positives from it?

Knighter: Yeah, quite a few despite the obvious disappointment of not winning a world title.

The biggest thing for me was the enjoyment and good results I had during the second half of the season. I knew I was still riding well, and to show that during the second half of the season, despite a few more disappointing results, like the Six Days, was great.

I also learned a lot from the year. They say you live and learn, and it's true. I started the year committed to the BMW team, and wanted to succeed for them as much as I did for myself, but that obviously didn't happen. Jumping on a standard Japanese motocross bike and winning a day of the WEC two months later was something that I'm really proud of. It took a lot of work, but it was a great feeling to finally win. Also winning a US GNCC race, on what really was a near standard bike, was great.
