A round-up of the Youth Trials championship, 2009
YOUTH A
IT was back in February that Beta-mounted Jack Sheppard first stamped his authority on the British Youth Trials Championships.
This opening round for the Youth A youngsters was held on the Isle of Man in dry but chilly conditions. Sheppard wasted no time showing who was boss as he flew round the slate stricken sections at South Barrule Quarry to take a clear cut victory ahead of Sherco's Richard Sadler.
Sheppard's domination of the A class was set to continue throughout the year as he claimed seven from eight possible wins, with the majority by a considerable margin.
YOUTH B
WHILST Youth A was clear cut, the Youth B class saw several riders take a win or come very close.
Leading the pack was Isle of Wight competitor George Gosden. George made a start to his 2009 championship campaign after a spot of island hopping over to the Isle of Man to take the win from Luke Walker.
YOUTH C
BETA dominated the top of the Youth C Trials Championship as Jack Price, Billy Bolt and Dan Peace all had their eyes firmly focused on the Championship title, and with each taking wins throughout the six-round series, consistency was the key.
Jack Price kicked off the year with the a single dab at Hedge Barton to claim maximum points in the opening round. Round two and it was Dan Pearce's turn to scoop the spoils with an easy win at Womerton Farm.
YOUTH D
THE youngest of the Youth riders began their six-round campaign at Hedge Barton in the middle of March, alongside the Youth C riders.
First off the mark in the D class Medium-wheels was Cornwall challenger, Toby Martyn, whilst in the Small-wheels Zac Collinson put in a blinding performance to top the class.
