And' the beat goes on
By Dick Law on 1st Jun 07
BRAD Anderson on his Pioneer Yamaha continued the fight back to the top of the CCM British Four-stroke MMX Championship with yet another two dominant wins at the Frome club's track at Asham Woods, Leighton, on Bank Holiday Monday.
If you take a look at the championship table it tells the whole story of Anderson's year, so far - eight races gone, six race wins and two break-downs.
In the PAR Homes Under 21 class, it was business as usual for Kawasaki's Ray Rowson as he took yet another two victories and 50-points to stretch his lead over Relentless Suzuki rider, James Law, the only person, other than Rowson to have a race win in the class to date this year.
Round three of the Quad Championship produced the most exciting racing of the day with French champion, Roman Couprie showing both reigning champion, John Mitchell, and multiple former champ, Paul Winrow, the way home - but only after a hard race-long battle.
Clerk of the course, Jim Webb, knows something about the weather and the Frome club's track as many had advised him in the week before the event to cancel because of forecast rain.
And, as most of the competitors made their way to the hillside track on Sunday you would have said that they were right, and he was wrong as it just kept raining and raining, all Sunday, and all Sunday night/ Monday morning right up to 8am.
The Sidecar class was sent out at 9.30am for a shortened practice session, and by the time the Under 21 riders went out for their practice the track was in ideal condition - and dust was even making an appearance as the last race of the day reached its climax.
