The fourth day at the International Six Day Enduro in Germany saw no major leaderboard changes with the British squads having a good day but not making any progress on the team standings. The second placed Junior Trophy squad is still putting plenty of pressure on the flying French while Trophy teamster Danny McCanney is again Britain's fastest rider.
Both ACU GB ISDE Trophy and Junior teams had a good day, posting great special test times, staying clean on time and returning to the proverbial clubhouse without dramas.
Strong performances again from the Juniors meant the French lead has been pegged at under two minutes to keep the pressure right on the defending champs. The Trophy Team were again individually stepping up the leaderboard, but looking for that break that will see them rise up the team standings. Danny McCanney yet again was the best Brit and is now 17th in the overall standings.
Team manager Dusty Martin reports a quiet day at the time checks despite early morning rain threatening to shake up the competition. Perhaps it says something about the quality of the competition that all the top riders coped and the status quo was unshaken. All the British riders, with the exception of Steve Holcombe, improved their positions today, going well in the tricky conditions. Steve, for his part, set some scintillating test times, but then had two very costly tests that undid all his good work. He is riding an excellent ISDE.
Looking forwards, day five may not be what we're after. Word from Gio Sala, who's pre-riding the course, is that the route tomorrow will be 80% road, 10% track and 10% tests. That's good news for all the other teams who might be carrying a few issues, but our team would prefer a tougher day. So it's another day of 100% application in the tests before the final day motocross.
ACU GB ISDE Team Manager, Dusty Martin: "Remarkably little to report today. The early rain made everyone anticipate trouble but the organisers immediately eased the times. Arguably that was prudent, but arguably a tighter schedule would have helped our cause. Everyone did their job like clockwork today. No issues at the time checks, no issues in either this morning's or this evening's work periods.
All our riders were setting top times today and for our Junior team to lose only 18 seconds to the French team shows just how hard they're riding. It's an incredible pace – even the hugely talented American team can't match that pace, have fallen over 11 minutes behind our lads.
Great team effort across the board – Trophy, Junior and support.”
