Bohemian rhapsody
By TMX Archives on 13th Aug 09

THE young riders are taking over world motocross! Average age of the four moto-winners at Loket on Sunday was just 19-years Ken Roczen (15), Gautier Paulin (19), Clement Desalle (20) and Max Nagl (22), the German having celebrated his birthday last Friday. And best Brit on the expressway, which twists its way in serpentine fashion around the Bohemian hillsides, was Jake Nicholls – another 19-year old!
It was also the day when both MX1 and MX2 world title chases were opened up again as Toni Cairoli arrived sick and Marvin Musquin's bike blew. The Sicilian's advantage over Nagl has been cut to 45-points, while just 28-points separate the top three in MX2 – both series could now go all the way to the final round in Brazil!
MX2
The MX2 class took the stage first and there was the usual scenario of the two factory KTMs in front as the pack exited turn one, but, as during Saturday qualification, Roczen was on them and the 15-year-old German was clearly the fastest.
In the space of two mid-moto laps he thrust the Suzuki past first Musquin and then Rui Goncalves, his pass on the Portuguese rider for the lead one of the most outrageous moves ever seen in motocross as he soared over the hay bale marking the inner side of the track to the astonishment of the KTM runner.

MX1
HARDLY had the large contingent of German fans who had crossed the nearby border finished celebrating Roczen's moto win, it was time to cheer again as Nagl burst to the front of the MX1 opener and was never headed.
Desalle had run him down in the Saturday qualifier and was edging closer again as the race approached half-distance. "Then I made a mistake, lost what I had gained and it was difficult to find my concentration again,” explained the Belgian.
The race was run, and movement was also lethargic in the pack.
