British MX Championship comes to Mallory Park

THE 2010 Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship jumps into action at Mallory Park on Sunday March 21st with some of the highest-flying riders in the world racing for victory in what is guaranteed to be a great day out for families and petrol-heads alike.

Motocrossis Formula One racing off-road with 250cc and 450cc engines poweringultra-lightweight motorcycles with so much suspension they can ride through,under or jump over just about anything in their way. Nothing is as fast ordramatic to watch as a well ridden motocross bike and in this second round ofthe British Championship all the riders will be up to speed and determined towin, ensuring lots of action.

MalloryPark has hosted the British round of the World Motocross Championship for thelast two-years and has an excellent reputation as one of the best circuits inthe UK, a fast flowing track with big jumps and close spectator viewing withplenty of family friendly facilities.

Theracing will be intense with a Superpole F1/World Superbike style qualifyingsession sorting the start gate and then three quick-fire 20-minute races forboth the MX1 and MX2 classes, giving the crowds plenty to get excitedabout.

ReigningMaxxis ACU British Motocross Champion Brad Anderson will headline the event ashe tries to defend his crown. He has raced at the circuit in the past and ratesit, although the big jumps are not normally his favourite sort of track. Hesaid: "I like Mallory Park and I am looking forward to racing there; I was lyingfifth in the GP last year when I suffered a big crash and ended up12th. It's a good challenging track.”

MalloryPark General Manager John Ward said: "This is the first time the BritishMotocross Championship has come to Mallory Park and we are expecting a fantasticevent with lots of big jumps, hard overtaking and super-fast action.

"Motocrossis a great family spectator sport, there is always something going on and theMallory Park track is well confined so that you can see most of the action fromwherever you stand. On the same day there will be a New Era motorcycle road raceon the circuit as well and spectators will get the chance to watch bikes at morethan 160mph – all for no extra charge. It'll be a great day, so bring the familyand try something different from visiting garden centres and shopping malls,this is real excitement.”
