Brit Danny McCanney claimed his first-ever Enduro Junior World Championship victory, after a dominant display on day two at the penultimate round of the 2012 Enduro World Championship in Heinola, Finland.

Danny's younger brother Jamie McCanney and Alex Rockwell also served-up their best results of the season so far to claim podium places – Jamie taking two runner-up spots behind newly-crowned 125cc Youth Cup World Champion Giacomo Redondi.

Ending the day some 30 seconds ahead of his closest challenger, following a runner-up result on day one, Danny not only delivered the best result for his Gas Gas Factory Team but also beat Frenchman Mathias Bellino who has dominated the Enduro Junior class during 2012.

An impressive second behind Bellino on day one, Danny was confident that he could go one better on day two.

Despite a slow start to the day he delivered three impressive and all-important, enduro test results that eventually handed him his first EWC victory.

"It was a perfect weekend really, with two podiums,” enthused Danny.

"The first day obviously went well, but I could see that I could possibly go even better on the second day because I was pretty strong on the enduro test.

"The weather bbeing wetter on day two helped, but I just pushed as hard as I could on the enduro test because I knew that was where I could make a difference.

"I wanted to get a win before the end of the season, which I've done now. With Jamie and Alex also finishing on the podium it's been a great weekend.”

Aiming for two top 10 results Rockwell surpassed his own ambitions in style.

Struggling to master the long, rock and tree-root littered enduro test on day one, the Husaberg rider improved his pace massively on day two, even managing to record fastest Enduro Junior time on the final enduro test.

"I really struggled on the test on day one but I seemed to get into it much better on day two,” said Rockwell.
