Dan's no dab Dob

While Ben Hemingway snowboarded on Sunday, elder brother Dan skated his way through 20 slippery sections at Dob Park to win the Ilkley Motor Club's annual New Year Trial and the AK Dawson Trophy.
Dan rode the entire Nick Pullan-devised course without penalty. It was a testing two-lap course at Dob and Brown's Wood that was ideal for 120 starters. Sam Ludgate finished second with Rosesdale visitor Ian Austermuhle in third after failing the sixth section. John Chambers rode to win the Novice class in his first ride as an adult.
Andy McLoughlin snat-ched ninth place and the Inter award while fifth, and Youth Class A winner, Jonathan Richardson sharpened up for the British Youth championships with a fine ride leaving rival Josh Maude to beat Oliver Sharp. West Leeds member Paul Kettlewell took the Clubman class from Paul Jackson and Chris Greenwood.
Eighteen youths competed in three classes. Richardson rode the Hard course and won his class while Eadonsfield Class A rider Ben Butterworth scored points for Bradford Motor Club ahead of fellow member Oliver Ingham. Boston Spa youngster, Sam Yeadon, managed to beat Burley schoolboy Edward Haley in Class B. Danielle Whitham finished fifth in the same class.
