Floodgates open for Scottish entries
By John Dickinson on 4th Nov 15
AS TMX was going to press this week entries for the 2016 Scottish Six Days Trial were already hovering around the 200 mark and they have only been open for just over two weeks.
And they aren't due to close until December 8, which is still five weeks off.
This of course means that the event is sure to over-subscribed and that a ballot will be necessary to keep the entry to around the 280 mark.
If you are still thinking about riding the Scottish, maybe you are weighing up the cost.
Or maybe you are plucking up courage for a first-time appearance.
Well there is no rush to enter.
It is not on a first-come first-served basis. All entries received by the secretary by the above closing date will have an equal chance, so you still have chance to decide where you would like to be on the first week next May (Monday to Saturday May 2-7).
The ballot will be held in December and it is planned that all accepted entrants will know before the New Year so they can crack-on with planning accommodation etc.
Cost of entry has been held to the 2015 level which is £450.
As well as your entry fee this includes all fuel for your machine for the week, transported to up to five or even six refuelling areas each day, and also your lunch each day.
Yes, it is an expensive week but if you are a trials rider and you just do it the once, to have ridden The Scottish makes it money well spent and you have memories forever.
Entries are also open for the Scottish Pre-65 Two Day which will take place on the Friday/ Saturday, April 29/ 30.
Again this event will almost certainly be oversubscribed but if you want to be in with a shout of a ride on the superb moors above Kinlochleven – on which you are not allowed at any other time.
To enter both you need to log on to the Scottish Six Days website which is simply ssdt.org
If you want to be lining your bike up in the Fort William parc ferme next May then get your entry in NOW!
