Northern Experts Trial preview
By John Dickinson on 4th Nov 15
THIS Saturday, November 7, sees the Manchester 17 MCC guys and gals promoting the 68th Northern Experts Trial.
And the event has attracted a cracking entry of 125 riders, spread over three classes, Northern Experts, Clubman and 50/50.
The trial will kick off at 9am prompt at Wildboarclough – SK11OBD – which will be flagged off the A54 and A537 roads.
Two laps of around eight miles in length will take in around 20 sections per circuit.
They are split into groups including plenty of old favourites like Clough House, Plantation, Ben's Ditch, Cumberland Corner, Danebower and the final group at Eardley's Burden.
Starting with the Clubman class it's impossible to pick a winner.
But Scott Rowland surely knows his way round here while you can't rule out Rob Bowyer who turns out on his Pre-65 Triumph twin.
The 50/50 course could be a cracker with last year's winner Darren Wasley under pressure to repeat his victory ride and north Wales resident Phil Houghton has enjoyed a great year and is sure to be up there.
Then again Clubman class specialist Katy Sunter, getting back into regular riding after a knee injury, is always a threat to the boys.
But it's a huge class and there are plenty of good riders looking to bag a win.
In the Northern Experts there are around 20 hopefuls with last year's winner Dan Thorpe the man to beat.
And he has his hands full with the usual northern suspects starting with Lakes Two Day winner Iwan Roberts as the man on the move.
