GRAHAM Jarvis returned to local trials action on Sunday at Keighley Gate where the Yeadon Guiseley club ran its annual Cobb and Jagger Trophy Trial for a total of 154 riders.

Jarvis was injured in a Barcelona enduro race and been fighting a back injury for two months but he was right back on form in the dense wooded ravine and lost just a single mark, on the toughened up tenth section, on lap two.

Ben Hemingway, James Lampkin, Dan Thorpe, Sam Ludgate, and Michael Brown all pitched in to pressure ‘Grimbo', but to no avail.

It was sunny and coolish, but soggy, as the sections tracked down the deep valley following the narrow beck. Waterworks played a major part in Dane Smith's plan of action. He laid out 18 long and tricky sections, and many of them required a map and compass.

Shibden's top youth rider, Jack Challoner, rode the hard course to finish in eighth place, just behind Martin Crosswaite who was on a four-stroke Montesa for the first time.

Oliver Sharp won Youth A Easy but he had Guiseley's Sam Jennings right on his case throughout the two-lap contest. Rising star, Chris Hunt, ran off with Youth B (Easy), leaving Tom Stewart and Tyler Stephenson to sort out the lower order.
