TONI Bou (Repsol Montesa) won both day's trials last weekend as the World Trials Championship was staged in Guatemala, the first time ever that the series has visited South America. This took Bou's 2007 tally to three wins from three starts after he took the opening event in Spain.

It was a Repsol-Montesa benefit as Takahisa Fujinami grabbed a podium on both days, while Britain's Dougie Lampkin finished fourth each time - the second losing out on a podium on a tie-break with team-mate Fujigas after both riders dropped just 14 marks. The only other rider to force his way in amongst the all-conquering Montesa factory four-strokes was reigning World Champ Adam Raga who kept himself in the Championship hunt with third and second places on his factory Gas Gas.
The two days in Guatemala were conducted in great heat and humidity which took its toll on rider and minders alike, while the 15 section course, marked out at La Antigua, around 100km south of Guatemala City, was set mainly over slippery boulders set in a river with climbs over more rocks and tree roots as a variation. The event was watched by very large crowds, with claimed figures of 12,000, and the sections were very tricky although tackled enthusiastically by the far-travelled Championship chasers in all three classes.
