Haibike sDuro - not your average off-road machine
By Team TMX on 10th May 17
Although its not an out and out electric-powered dirt bike such as the KTM Freeride or Alta Motors Redshift, this Haibike sDuro 6.0 AllMtn certainly bridges the gap between mountain bikes and more traditional enduro machines like were used to seeing in TMX.And since its seen to be a bicycle in the eyes of the law it opens up a lot of new riding areas where youd never normally be able to take your off-road racer.
Using a Yamaha PW series motor the Haibike is ‘power assisted' so there's no throttle as such and the power only comes in when you're pedalling.
The motor offers up to 280% assistance meaning climbing hills is a breeze and building speed on off-road trails is – almost – effortless and a whole lot of fun!
A very well-specced machine the Haibike is built to take a hammering which is probably a good thing considering we've been sent one to test up here at TMX Towers.
While much of that testing consists of time trials around the office – we're not kidding – we've also been out and about in t'hills to see if the Haibike can give the same sort of buzz as riding a motorbike off-road while also being useful as a serious training tool.
A full n' frank test is coming up but until then log on to haibike.com for more information on this awesome machine.
