Youth Club: Ike will come back strong

A BROKEN wrist, picked up recently while out practising at the Milk Run, will keep 14-year-old Ike Carter sidelined for a few weeks.
MBO Power runner Carter was last year's Big-wheel 85s National champion in both BYNationals and MX Nationals and he's started his 125cc campaign on a bright note too.
At the opening round of the MX Nationals he finished in fourth overall, and after two rounds of BYNats is in series sixth.
Injury means he's just missed out on the second round of MX Nationals and he's more than likely about to miss the next round of BYNats in Northern Ireland.
A bit of a setback then, but Ike's sure to come back stronger and fitter, just as he has done in the past.
Hailing from Chatham in Kent, Ike started racing after his seventh birthday in 2010, and with his distinctive Mohican lid, he was dead easy to spot.
His progress was rapid and his crowning moment in the 50cc division should have come at the 2011 ACU finals at Milton Park.
He won his first two heats in style, but then an opening-lap pile-up in race three, followed by a puncture in his final heat, ultimately left him third on the podium.
Coming back to the front in the 2013 season, and with five rounds down in the GT Cup 65s, Ike was King.
He was fending off the likes of Eddie Jay Wade and Louie Kessell and had the series virtually sewn up until injury ended a glorious campaign.
Suffering a broken femur also messed up a top-five championship finish in that year's Red Bull series.
With injury disruption lingering on and affecting plans in 2014, a disappointing blank year in National terms followed.
Then, after a hook-up with MBO Power for 2015 Ike was back on the National circuit trail and looking to pick up where he left off.
Riding with a busted finger through the opening rounds in 2015 was annoying enough, and it took time to hit top form.
Ultimately, a seventh place series finish in that year's British Youth Nationals and a champions gold in the Route 77 series, was a more than solid first year return for both Ike and MBO.
Possibly his best show of that year was at the Route 77 championship finale. Ike had to come from behind, and with a brilliant effort he successfully turned over series leader Sam Nunn.
Year two under MBO in 2016 was glory all the way and Ike will be looking forward to plenty more good times in the years ahead.
