It worx for Preston
By Dave Rich on 22nd Mar 07
On Sunday the opening round of the Remedies Bar Motocross Championship took place at Little Silver Moto Parc, near Exeter. The track was in prime condition and with showers on and off during the day, it stayed that way and produced some really fast racing.
There was a full line-up in the Expert Open classand it proved to be a good day for defending champion, David Yelland, who opened his account - but not without a battle. Yelland had to workhard in the opening race and was chasing early leader Andrew Gillettwho was having his first ride in the open class after winning the 125cccrown last season.
Gillett was in fine form until he went into a fastleft-hander and lost the back-wheel three laps from the end. Thismistake gifted the win to Yelland. Gillett just held off Jordan Rose.
Gillett again led race two from the off and was ona mission. Yelland was second after the opening lap but he had Roseright on his tail. Within half a lap Rose had a problem and pulled overand was out.
Jamie Skuse inherited third and was struggling tostay with the leading duo who were flying. Every time Yelland closed onGillett, Gillett seemed to have a bit more in reserve and he went on totake the win.
