The third and final round of the Fast Eddy Motoduro series very nearly turned into another extreme event as weather conditions worsened throughout the day and gave riders the toughest challenge in the series yet.
Ashby Motoparc was in fine condition at the start of the day for six motoduro races, but wet weather before the event and heavy rain from midday made the going tough for most around the MX loop, which had plenty of grip but covered every rider in sticky mud.
Following on from the second round of the series, just across the road from the Motoparc, the final round had a good line-up of riders in all three outings.
Races one and four were for the Youth riders, two and five for Vets B, Novice, Sportsman and Junior MX and races three and six contained the Experts, Clubman, Vets A and Youth 13-16 year olds.
The youngsters were up first and BW85-150cc rider Jack Edmondson led the way around the Ashby course from start to finish in the opening race.
He consolidated this win with victory in race four, although he did have an off on the first corner but recovered to post an extra lap on the opposition.
Jack Cadwallader and Antoine Criq tried hard to catch Jacko in the first race and Criq got even closer in the second, with Sam Keeble, snapping at his rear wheel for much of the race.
Antoine Criq had done enough to secure the series win overall, with Joe Roberts in second place and Jack Edmondson third.
Harry Edmondson emulated his older brother's success with two wins in the 65cc class which confirmed him as the overall series 65cc winner as Shea Ryan took second place in both races for second overall and Sam Nunn placed third in both.
James Angel and Ben Coleman shared a win and a second place each in the Small-wheel 85cc class, while Silje Otte placed third in both races.
Coleman's performance gave him the series win with Angel second and William Criq third.
Races two and five saw the Sportsman, Novice, Junior MX and Vets B runners face very muddy conditions and the steam coming from the bikes made it look as if the fog from the second round had returned. Novice rider Kevin Doulan took the honours, beating many experienced Vet riders along the way.
Doulan rode well and seemed to be a very experienced Novice, finishing two laps ahead of his nearest class rivals James Wilkes and Fraser Martin.
Doulan also won the Novice class in the second race but Callum McLean and Lee Richards joined him on the podium this time around.
